reCAPTCHA for WooCommerce

We really enjoy using WooCommerce for your clients who are looking for a great ecommerce solution for a reasonable price. For the most part this have been a great success for us, but one client of ours has experienced some issues with a botnet hammering their ecoomerce site to validate credit cards. This was no good and we did something about it, we built woocaptcha.

How it works

Woocaptcha is a relitively simple, but effective plugin. It adds a reCAPTCHA, a Google product, to your WooCommerce site to prevent bots from trying to place orders on your ecommerce site.

A CAPTCHA ( /ˈkæp.tʃə/) is a type of challenge-response test used in computing as an attempt to ensure that the response is generated by a person. The process usually involves a computer asking a user to complete a simple test which the computer is able to grade. These tests are designed to be easy for a computer to generate, but difficult for a computer to solve, so that if a correct solution is received, it can be presumed to have been entered by a human. A common type of CAPTCHA requires the user to type letters or digits from a distorted image that appears on the screen, and such tests are commonly used to prevent unwanted internet bots from accessing websites. – Wikipedia

WooCommerce and woocaptcha

Woocaptcha integrates into WooCommerce very cleanly by adding reCAPTCHA to the bottom of the checkout form for any customer not currently logged into your ecommerce site. This will prevent bots from two actions:

woocaptcha is added to the bottom of your checkout from when the user is not logged in.

1. Creating accounts
2. Attempting to purchasing products

And that is about it, you are now protected from bots.

On the other hand if a customer gets the CAPTCHA wrong they will be provided with an error similar to existing WooCommerce errors and a regenerated CAPTCHA.

Currently we have integrated with the basic reCAPTCHA themes (red, white, blackglass, clean). However we have a release coming soon which will include some premium themes for a really good deal.
