A focused website

It seems many companies these days are trying to have a website that is everything to everybody. For example, a shoe manufacturer with streaming video or a clothes manufacturer providing an entertainment section. With the constant flow of information and advertising today – tread lightly when considering what will make your company website “sticky” without being too overwhelming.

I believe that consumers prefer immediate gratification – they want to go to a company’s website to find out more information about that company or their products. I’m not convinced that having blogs and video will keep them hanging around longer. I do think if your information is clean and concise and the visitor’s primary purpose for visiting is readily clickable then they will enjoy the process of doing business with you online. The investment and talent needed to maintain videos, blogs and other types of multimedia may not be worth the time.

Ask yourself, what are the top three reasons why someone will visit my site? Is your site structured to provide an immediate response?
