Over the next several months I will be writing on various tips that any web site designer could use to help move things along during that next project. I will help give some clarification to certain topics regarding web site design, provide useful links to push creativity and simply just give my opinion on professional web site design in general.
Another thing to consider - less is more. People are just too impatient to search all over a site only to find Ad after Ad, 300 menu options and no hierarchy to show importance. Draw a person in to what matters, help them make the decision of where they want to go or need to go to find the information they came there to look for in the first place. It seems like a lot of people just don't get the thought of keeping things simple. I think I speak for every "graphic designer" out there when I say that clients just don't get it - for the most part. We have all had our fair share of clients who know more about us when it comes to being a professional web design company than we do. None the less, it is our job to educate them with the knowledge we have gained over the years. You don't have to fill every single space with something, just to have that space filled and not be empty. Empty can be good. Empty can be real good.
